You know that one person in your office’s accounting department that always send around decently funny emails, and you enjoy reading them, but to your great unspoken displeasure they are always set in Comic Sans? So yesterday Google Released a new App focused on Reading Articles in a more pleasant mobile-friendly way.
I’m going to test it out over the next couple of days and give some feedback.

I saw this article, and at first was mesmerized by the greatness of the stuff in the video. But after reading the article, and once the novelty had washed away, I sort of reevaluated my perspective on pretty vs usable….

I like this. I’m a fan of minimalism, and though I understand the idea of making visually exciting packaging, and helping it stand out on the shelf, for me personally this minimalist approach is much more appealing and stand-out-ish.
I wish brands would adopt some of these and give their designer cosnumers’ eyes a small rest :)
